The Famoose Tale of Moose Winooski

Moose was wandering way outside of his usual rutting grounds when it hit him. The scent. Enticing. Not the usual twig aroma but something completely new. Tantalizing, intoxicating, delectable, and downright yummy. Moose followed the succulent smell with his sensitive moose nose straight to the Winooski's cookhouse. (Those of you familiar with the Moosonee area of Canada probably saw that one coming.) Anyway, Moose took one sniff in the direction of the Winooski cookhouse and fell in love.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of Ivan and Sophie Winooski. Ivan saw Moose checking out the french fries and fell flat on his bottom. Sophie saw Moose sniffing her simmering sauce and fell into a rage. She batted him with her broom and snapped him with her dishtowel but Moose wouldn't move. He was helplessly drawn to the food. Sophie and Ivan had seen that powerless look on human faces enough to recognize it on a moose. There was nothing they could do so they made him a moose sized meal and invited him in.

Moose stayed with Sophie and Ivan for many years. Sophie taught Moose all of her Canadian cookhouse recipes so he could help out in the kitchen and Ivan never tired of constructing moose-sized kitchen utensils. Moose's cooking was a smash hit. Sophie was a little jealous at first, but she wasn't one to crush a natural talent so she gave Moose free reign. The cookhouse became more popular and even more Canadian than it had ever been. People traveled from miles away, through blizzards even, to get to the Winooski's kitchen.

But then it hit Moose - wanderlust. Moose couldn't ignore the pull of the wild - instinct is mighty in the moose. So he hung his super-sized spatula, whopping whisk and tungsten tongs on his antlers and took off into the wild blue yonder.

The story gets a little hazy around here but every once in a while Sophie and Ivan would get a postcard from Moose. Moose eating a pizza at the leaning tower of Pisa. Moose having lunch at the Arc De Triomphe. Moose with swiss cheese on the slopes of the Andes. Ragout in Russia, pasta in Prussia, hotpot in Hong Kong and fondue in Verdun. The list goes on.
